2 Ways To Find Your Perfect Bug-Out Property

Posted on

If you are worried about the way the world is going and that the time may come that you have to have a safe place for your family, you are going to need to be able to find that safe place. After all, it's not like there are going to be survival properties just anywhere. If there were, that would sort of defeat the purpose. There are things that you can do to help find a good site and determine if it is a good site for you.

Talk to Survivalist Realtors

You may be surprised to find out that there are realtors who specialize in helping survivalists and preppers find the right bug-out property for them. You may not have one of these realtors in your area, but there are websites that can connect you to a network of realtors who do work with people in your situation, and know what kind of property you may be looking for. They can give you lists of properties in your area as well as properties in other areas that you may be looking at as a bug-out location.

Evaluate the Property

Once your realtor has given you a few properties to look at, you want to go evaluate them. You don't want to buy it sight unseen, just by going with the information the seller is giving you. So, go walk the property with an eye towards your goal. If your goal is to make sure that you can live as off-grid as possible and to use it as a property that your family can escape to if there is trouble, there are going to be certain things that you are going to look for.

  • Water sources: You will want to make sure that the property has as many water sources as possible. That can include having a well on the property, as well as creeks or springs that you can take advantage of. If you are going to take advantage of springs or creeks for drinking water, be aware that you are going to need to have a filtration system in place so that you get rid of any waterborne illnesses. You may also want to see if there is a way that you can pipe water from those places to your home.
  • Access: Another thing that you are going to have to look at is how many access points the site has. You want there to be as few easy access points as possible since that is part of keeping your family safe. However, you also want to make sure that your family can escape if you lose control of the access to your site, so you will also want to have hidden escape points that no one else will know about.

Trying to keep your family safe in a world of chaos is important. A survival or bug-out property can help you with that.
